Wow! This is cool. I have been receiving blogs from my good friend, Reed Robins, who is a fellow musician/composer and music producer and I have really enjoyed them. This is my first blog on blogspot and is a kind of maiden voyage for me. Reed and I have known each other for a while, having first worked together years ago with Edward Canby's a cappella singing group, The Canby Singers and subsequently on some National TV commercials.
Recently, we worked on a theme for a morning TV show and had sent a mix in for approval. Feeling creatively satisfied, we took our dogs out for a walk in Gramercy Park, Reed with the great Tito and me with Lucia Lagrima. Tito is a bit bigger than Lucia and has a quicker gait than my 6 pound diva! At the corner of 18th and Irving Place, Reed was out of sight and a wonderful woman came over to us and started raving about Lucia. This happens a lot. She asked if she could pick Lucia up and I responded as I usually do, "If she wants you to." Then it's up to her. Lucia has a good sense about people and quicker than you can say Jackie Robinson, she was in the arms of a very vivacious woman who will be known as Jeanine. Lucia looked very happy as did Jeanine, who turned to me and said, "I am going over to The National Arts Club. Why don't you join me?" Having played piano there for parties when I am usually tuxedoed up, I told Jeanine that I was with my friend Reed and his dog, Tito and we're not really dressed for it. She said, "Don't worry, I'm a member." Well, we went over there and my compliments go out to the staff for the kind and gracious reception that we got. Lucia Lagrima is loved wherever she goes, having posed on the cover of this year's Bergdorf Goodman Spring Catalogue.*

(Below the blog is Lucia's first press release! And if you google Lucia Lagrima, you will see a number of Blogs that have fallen in love with her!)
Getting back to The National Arts Club, it was a very celebratory Friday night there, just a few weeks before Christmas. And though we were finally asked to leave the bar, we definitely got a taste of pure Veuve Cleuquot style. Kudos to Jeanine, who is a shining example of the kind of serendipitous, masterful mingling that can happen on any night in New York City. (Weather permitting)
